Only thing to point out - our Mondeo had 95k when we bought it from my father. Had full ford Service History - even had the belt changed at around 75k. Don't think they changed the tensioner though. We've had the belt done at 110k, (not tensioner) - which has failed at 150k - and it looks like a new engine is needed.
I have a 57 Mondeo - Cam belt changed at 80k the lower belt failed at 106k. I was told I had a chain so did not change. BEWARE - FORD recommeded timing belt and chain at 125k is only recommended and you should change earlier. NB - FORD are recommending that the belt and chain on any vehicle should be changed.
If the teeth on the cambelt wear they can slip, changing their position on the camshaft and/or crankshaft. This is known as ‘jumping a tooth’, and at best causes incorrect timing (meaning the engine will not run correctly), or at worst, again, collision between valves and pistons.
