3. Name: Craig. Ford Model: Mondeo mk4. Ford Year: 2008. UK/Ireland Location: Essex. Posted July 18, 2019. Hi all, I'm hoping you can help with ideas for my problem. The last few times I have put petrol in the car I have noticed a smell of fuel inside the cabin, tonight I put some in and it seemed stronger and I had to open the window.

Ford Year: 2012 UK/Ireland Location: Staffordshire Share; Posted August 6, 2016. Mondeo MK4 hatchback, fuel flap, wouldn't open, following advice from Google,

1. open bonnet, and remove plastic engine cover. 2. locate fuel filter, to the right of the main part of the engine, left of the battery, under a black metal sheild. 3. using the socket wrench remove the two bolts and move out of the way. 4. disconnect the electrical cables via clip that simply lifts a little and pull.

Most diesels are self priming now, or shut off the engine before the engine is fully starved of fuel so you don't have to reprime the fuel line. Add fuel (you may need the funnel thing if it's an Ford easy fuel cap), switch ignition on for 10 seconds, THEN try to start like normal. OK thank you. 19 May 2021 at 13:56. #4.
A 2009 Mondeo is a MK4 which has the capless Ford Easy Fuel system. The Easy Fuel system consist of a number of valves inside the filer neck that can only be opened with an object of the correct diameter (In this case a Diesel filler handle). For emergency filling using a jerrycan or to add an additive you need to use the Easy Fuel funnel.
