The engine cut out again at the same moment. This time it took 4-5 goes to get the engine started again, but on this occasion the dashboard showed some warning lights. The glow plug light came on for a few seconds, as did the engine management light. The power train light stayed on until the engine started.
location: in the engine bay on the right hand top side under a metal plate. 1) disconnect battery. 2) take top of metal housing (3 bolt irrc) 3) disconnect electrical connection. note: a little fuel will comes out of the pipesthis is fine. 5) pull fuel filter housing from engine bay. 6) take note of the two arrows on the lid and base.

(top left) If it has the button, but no visible input, you can buy a lead for the back of the unit which will offer you the option to plug an AUX cable into it - that's what I had to do.
I have the same problem with my 2003 Mondeo tdci. 120k. Glow plug light came on during a trip down to Cornwall. Now its hard to start when left overnight. Car runs fine once engine is warmed up tho. Checked my glow plugs and none of them was working so thought that must be the problem. Replaced with four new NKG.
